![]() The other issue is the DLNA client itself on the TV or other end device. The Twonky media server coding has a bunch of predefined enteries for DLNA clients that may also affect the way things are displayed. One can access the Twonky Administration page (for example and change the " Navigation Tree" setting (to “By Folder” for example) for new and existing DLNA clients and see if that improves the folder display on the SmartTV. One is the Twonky media server on the My Cloud. There are several issues at play with how the folder structure is displayed when using DLNA. (BTW, the WDTV has been out of production for a few years now, so look into the FireTV/Kodi combo to keep your costs down. Bottom line is the smart tv is actually not so smart, because it only has the media server view and not the SMB view. You need an appropriate media player between the My Cloud and the TV. There are other ways and media players out there, too, that could be used. Another way to view is by using an Amazon Fire TV stick with a media player installed on it called Kodi that allows for viewing either way like the WDTV. I always use the SMB view and it all looks as it does on Win PC. One way is I use a WDTV media player that gives me both views 1) as media server, and 2) as Network shares (i.e.Samba (SMB) view. ![]() Although I do not have a smart tv, I do have other equipment for using and viewing my media folders. My firmware version is 02.43.03-022 : Core F/W.As others have suggested, you are seeing the folders only one way, as presented by the My Cloud media server, and if this is a smart TV, you may be stuck with this view only. Please can someone help? I don’t want to take the My Book Live back to the store because I’m confident that it’s only a matter of replacing the WD server with Twonky’s server. I’ve even tried to downgrade the firmware using earlier versions, but again, error 31101 - invalid firmware package. However, all i get is the same error 31101 as everyone else. deb file to switch between TwonkyMedia and WD’s DLNA Media Server, as instructed by WD here: I just can’t do the same using WD’s DLNA media server, even though the server shows up on my TV and shows me the files with their respective thumbnails (this is not a file formats issue, these files/videos do play on my TV when streamed from my PC). Having said that, I’ve happily been using TwonkyMedia 6.0.31 on my PC to stream media wirelessly to my Panasonic Viera TV for three years now. I’m not a programmer so phrases such as ‘copy the ffsroot.img to the root folder of the public shared folder’ makes no sense to me, and all the help which I find online seems tailored for people who know their way around Linux. I’ve spent my first week with my MyBookLive banging my head against my desk trying to install TwonkyMedia onto it. I then was able to install bĪnd then back to bĭoes anyone has a step by step procedure to get the twonky server working again after this firmware update, theres a big waste not be able to use the My Book Live as a media server. Which did have a working twonky installed Then used the wd update from the web to go to 02.41.05 – 034 ![]() Then used the update from file method in the wd gui with b I used the downgrade.sh and the rootfs.img from b Note: This will switch your media server from Twonky to the WD Media server Then upload it from the dashboard like you would a firmware file You need to download the WD Media Server from I made a Quick and a Full factory restore ( Twice ) Recently i autotically updated my My Book Live to version 02.42.02-012 : Core F/W and no twonky functions are available, i did all the next actions ![]()
